Senator Jacinta Collins is an ALP member of the Australian Senate. Before entering politics she worked for the Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees’ Association. She has served as Shadow Minister for Children and Youth and as Parliamentary Secretary for Industrial Relations, Employment, Workplace Relations and Employment, Training and Population.
Mrs Elizabeth Crouch, B Ec spent 16 years working with federal government before moving to the private sector. For a number of years she was NSW Executive Director of the Housing Industry Association and held a number of senior policy positions for the HIA. She now works as a private consultant and serves on a range of boards, including as a Member of the Macquarie University Council, Chair of the Ku-ring-gai Planning Panel and Chair of the Public Transport Ticketing Corporation.
Mrs. Elizabeth Green is a Sydney artist for whom an early love of art and painting became a solace and later a profession when she was left a paraplegic at age 19. Liz is well known for her portrayal of Australian landscapes. She and her husband have 4 children, some of whom have been painted into her landscapes.
Mrs. Maggie Hamilton is a well known author, publisher and media commentator and a keen observer of social trends. She is the author of What Men Don’t Talk About and most recently What’s Happening to Our Girls?
Ms. Ailish McKeown worked in the trade union movement as an Organiser and Industrial Officer and later practised as a solicitor in NSW and Victoria in the fields of medical malpractice and professional indemnity before travelling overseas to study philosophy in Rome. She is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Sydney.
The Lights & Shadows Conference is organised by Creston College as an annual event. Creston conducts a variety of courses and activities designed to meet the needs and aspirations of women. Lectures, seminars and discussion groups provide an opportunity to study topics of interest in greater depth. Founded in 1970, Creston is a project of Education Development Association (EDA), which aims to promote education and the development of character in accordance with the principles and ideals of Christianity. The activities of a spiritual nature are entrusted to Opus Dei, a personal Prelature of the Catholic Church.
