Our WHY

OUR VISION

Nurturing women of character who have vision and heart

University is a defining moment – a time to step into a new space of independence, responsibility and self-discovery. At Creston, this crucial period is an opportunity to learn to face life’s big questions aiming towards a life of purpose and impact.

Creston is a place to belong and a place to become.

Whether a student lives at Creston or engages in its programs as a non-resident, she is simultaneously welcomed into a family and challenged to outgrow her comfort zone. Through a rich student life, deep friendships and personal reflection, young women are encouraged and supported to form strong values and develop a vision of service and care in their home and professional life – one that seeks the common good.

In these pivotal years Creston helps students – both local and international – grow intentionally into bold and generous leaders: game-changers in their fields.

OUR MISSION

Creston inspires women through discovery, supports through mentoring, and challenges through service towards growth of the whole person.

Strong Academic Environment

A culture that fuels curiosity, critical thinking, and diligent work, enriched by formal dinners, guest speakers, and intellectually engaging programs.

Culture of

Service

A commitment to compassion and social responsibility, encouraging students to look beyond themselves and contribute meaningfully to the common good.

OUR ETHOS

Rooted in the teachings of St. Josemaria and the spirit of Opus Dei, Creston is built on a deeply Catholic vision of life that sees ordinary circumstances as opportunities for human flourishing and holiness because there one can encounter God.

OUR HISTORY

A home away from home since 1970

Creston College was founded in 1970 as a project of the Foundation for Education & Training Limited (FFET), committed to advancing education and character development in accordance with Christian principles.

From its inception, Creston has welcomed female students of all nationalities and faith backgrounds. The first Creston residence opened in 1969 in a temporary home on Prince Street, Randwick, with a handful of students.

On 17 August 1970, the College moved to its current location at 36 High Street, expanding its capacity to 25 residents. Over the years, Creston's doors have also been open to many non-resident students to participate in the College’s vibrant academic, cultural, spiritual, and sporting activities.

In the 1990s, Creston undertook major renovation to modernise and enhance its facilities. The final stage was completed in 2007, and the renewed College was officially reopened by David Gonski, Chancellor of the University of New South Wales.

Today, Creston continues to fulfil its founding mission, offering a supportive, family-style environment where women are encouraged to grow in a wholistic way.
