APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Am I eligible to apply for Creston?

    Creston is open to women enrolled in full-time university studies, typically at UNSW or nearby campuses. School leavers and first-year uni students are especially welcome.

  • When should I apply?

    You are welcome to apply at any time, as our applications remain open year-round. It might be helpful to note that we begin processing applications for Trimester 1 in August of the previous year, for Trimester 2 in March, and for Trimester 3 in July.

  • What’s the application process?

    To apply, simply follow the complete set of instructions provided on the Apply page. 


    You will need to prepare your documents, complete the application form, pay the application fee, and provide two referees. Strong applicants are invited to an interview. After the interview, you may receive an offer for residency.


    We will be in touch with you along the way so you know what stage you are at. 

  • Can I take a tour?

    Of course! Drop by at any time during office hours, or make an appointment by calling or emailing us - details are on the Contact Us page.

LIFE AT CRESTON

  • How do meals work?

    Creston is fully catered and provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We have family dinner together at 6pm, with a late option at 8pm. Supper is served at 9 pm each night. We cater for diets required for medical or religious reasons

  • What facilities and services will I have access to?

    You will have access to all facilities listed on the Facilities and Services page. These include social spaces, study spaces, a dining room, a laundry, a kitchenette, and a chapel. Services include meals, wii-fi, printing, cleaning, and linen. Student leadership and community outreach programs are also available.


    Additionally there are ample student leadership and community outreach opportunities also listed.

  • What do I need to bring when I move into Creston?

    To make sure you’re fully prepared to move in, here’s a list of essential items you’ll need to bring. If you forget something, don’t worry, there are shops within a 10-minute walk away.

    • Academic supplies: laptop (and all necessary chargers and adapters), stationary, notebooks
    • Photo ID
    • Toiletries: Shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, and other personal hygiene items
    • Laundry supplies: The student laundry has detergent for you to use, but you may want to bring your own spot-cleaning products.
    • Beach towel: we live a 30-minute walk away from the beach so it’s handy to bring your own towel

    We’ve got you covered for everything else, or we can figure it out when you get here.


  • What kind of support is available?

    We are big on care. We offer strong support through our team of Resident Tutors, mentors, academic support and a chaplain. We can also direct you to university support services when needed.


  • Is parking available?

    Yes, parking is available.

FEES AND AFFORDABILITY

  • Is financial assistance available?

    Yes, we believe all students should have an equal opportunity to live and grow through the unique experiences college life offers so several types of financial support are available.  

    • The Community Engagement Grant is a highly competitive, one-year grant designed to support students committed to service.
    • The Priority Employment Plan provides 8–12 hours of paid work each week with Creston’s Hospitality Service Department, and it is also highly competitive.
    • In addition, students may apply for casual employment with the Hospitality Services Department to work in dining room services.
  • How much does it cost to live at Creston?

  • What are the rules around visitors or curfews?

    Creston is a respectful, safe environment. Visitors are welcome during designated hours, and there are reasonable guidelines in place to ensure everyone feels comfortable and secure.

NON-RESIDENT ENGAGEMENT AND PROGRAMS

  • How can I be a part of Creston without living on site?

    Creston is a hub for university students to grow in character, vision and heart. Non-residents are welcome to participate in mentoring, volunteering, social and sporting events, academic programs and Catholic formation. You are also welcome to join for meals (you can pay at reception) and use the library and other study spaces. To get involved, let us know through the Character Development Hub page.
