GRANT AWARDED

8-12 Hours a Week of Work at Creston

This plan offers 8–12 hours of paid work per week with Creston’s Household Services. Students earn income through work that impacts day-to-day college life in a meaningful way to help offset accommodation costs.


Weekly hours:  Minimum 8 hours per week, with up to 12 hours of priority employment

Scheduling: Final work hours are negotiated between the student and their Manager

Conduct:  Students must follow all Creston employment policies and expectations Renumeration:  In line with the Educational Services (Schools) General Staff Award

SELECTioN CRITERIA

Engagement in

college life

Willingness and commitment to participate in college activities, leadership roles, faith-based activities and service initiatives.

Financial Assistance

Demonstrated financial need through a personal statement and supporting documents

Academic Merit

Demonstrated through academic achievements such as high results, awards, publications, or professional accomplishments.

Leadership Skills

Proven leadership experience or active involvement in academic, professional, or community settings.

Vision and Growth

A demonstrated desire for personal growth and a clear commitment to contributing positively to society during and after university.

Community Engagement

Actively engage and execute service initiatives at Creston.

  • Eligibility criteria

    To be considered for the Priority Employment Plan, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Have applied for accommodation at Creston College 
    • Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student for the duration of the plan 
    • Demonstrate financial hardship

    International and domestic students NB: Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee that a Priority Employment Plan will be awarded. Due to limited funding, the selection process is competitive. Applicants are ranked according to how well they meet the selection criteria, and Priority Employment Plans are awarded to those who best align with its objectives.

  • CONDITIONS

    Duration: The 2025 Priority Employment plan will remain in effect until the end of the Trimester 3 contract period. Recipients who wish to continue the plan in future years must reapply annually.


    Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining satisfactory performance. If a student does not meet required standards—despite training and feedback—and is deemed unfit for the role, their placement in the plan may be withdrawn at the discretion of the Creston management team.


    Eligibility maintenance:  The plan is contingent on continued positive engagement within the Creston community. In cases of serious concerns— such as a significant decline in academic performance, disengagement from community life, or behaviour that breaches college guidelines—the grant may be withdrawn at the discretion of the Creston management team.
